Discovering Piero della Francesca in Arezzo, Monterchi and Sansepolcro

This is a cultural and artistic tour and an invitation to the voyage in the steps of Piero della Francesca, genius of the Reinassance, great painter, intellectual, master of light, symbols and perspective.
A guided tour with a local guide who is an art expert and art historian will let you discover the magic word of the Piero della Francesca’s paintings and his works still preserved in the places where the master made them.
In the limited time of a day you will visit Arezzo, where the true masterpiece left by Piero is preserved The Legend of the True Cross frescoed in the Bacci Chapel in the Church San Francesco (advanced booking is requested to see the frescoes). In the Cathedral of Arezzo you will admire another fresco painting by Piero della Francesca St. Mary Magdalen, about which very little is known from the documents. After lunch the tour will continue with the transfer to the village of Monterchi to see the Madonna del Parto (Pregnant Virgin) one of the highest expressions of the iconography of the Virgin Mary like the mother of Jesus. We will continue then getting to the town of Sansepolcro where Piero della Francesca was born and where we can see his house. We will visit there the Museo Civico with four paintings left by Piero della Francesca in his birthplace: the fresco with the Resurrection described by the British writer Aldous Huxley in 1924 as “the finest painting in the world”, the polypthic of the Madonna della Misericordia, San Giuliano and San Ludovico di Tolosa. Visit of the town historic centre with the Cathedral and Piazza della Torre di Berta.
