New tour of Arezzo with fresco painting workshop

A new experiential tourism proposal designed by Artours for tourists interested in bringing home an original and educational art experience. This is an innovative tour in which the classic guided tour of Arezzo held by a historical art guide combines the experience of creating a fresco in the splendid location of an organic farm-winery where you will have lunch tasting wonderful local wines. tour is structured in 2 different moments: in the morning a guided tour of Arezzo with the art historian Susanna Buricchi to discover the ancient fresco technique in the churches of the city and the rest of the day with an expert restorer to learn this extraordinary artistic technique.
Arezzo is definetly one of the best places to learn fresco painting in the world!
This charming Tuscan town is infact the place where the Renaissance master Piero della Francesca painted “The Legend of the True Cross”, a stunning Renaissance cycle of frescoes, the only one survived by the genial artist, a true masterpiece which attracts many tourists from all over the world being considered Piero’s masterwork.
This is a special tour, very innovative, in which you can make your own art experience!
It’s a day tour (6 hours) divided into 2 different sessions: in the morning you will be guided by the art historian, books author and guide Dr. Susanna Buricchi in a walking tour of Arezzo and the you will be transferred privately to an agriturismo to have lunch and wine tasting followed up by a workshop of fresco painting.
The workshop consists of 2 sessions of activities: a couple of hours spendt with the art historian Susanna Buricchi and the rest of the day with the an expert restorere who will teach you all the secrets of this technique

Schedule: h. 9.00 meeting point in front of the train station of Arezzo. Meet your art expert, guide PH Art Historian Susanna Buricchi.
h. 9. 00-11.00: SESSION N. 1- ART HISTORY ON MOVE
Walking tour of the medieval and Renaissance old town of Arezzo leaded by Dr. Susanna Buricchi and on move brief lecture on the topic “History of the Fresco Painting” followed by an introduction to fresco techniques in art history illustrated directly in front of the frescoes in the churches of Arezzo and the stunning “St.Mary Magdalen” painted by Piero della Francesca in the Duomo (so that students can have an overview about the styles and the making process!) .
 h. 11.00: Private transfer to Podere di Pomaio Agriturismo-Green Winery
h. 11. 30-12.00 COFFEE-BREAK
h. 12.00-1.30 pm:  SESSION N. 2- FRESCO PAINTING
Preparation of mortar and plasters: rinzaffo, arriccio and tonachino. Students will prepare the tonachino (last layer of fresh plaster to paint on it)  After that, they will decide if they would use designs provided by the teacher Laura or if they would prepare their own  drawing to paint in fresco during the rest of the session.
h. 1.30 -3.00 pm : LUNCH BREAK  You will have lunch in the magic world of the Pomaio  green winery tasting cheeses, cold cuts, bruschette with extravirgin olive oil, tomatoes, white beans and crostini, mixed grilled delicious fresh vegetables and a dessert paired by wine from the winery.
h.  3.00-6.00 pm : SESSION N. 2- FRESCO PAINTING
Laura will teach you how to make your fresco on a light base so that you can bring it home with you. Materials (coarse grained and fine grained plasters) will be prepared by Laura, but students will personally spread on their bases.
Students will keep their artifact. Materials for the students will be provided by use.
