Artours with Tauck in 2020: the restoration of Lorenzetti
Artours has promoted to its big client and business partner Tauck, a reknowned Norh American tour operator the sponsorship of restauration of the Pietro Lorenzetti Polypthic from la Pieve Church in Arezzo. A project of sustainable and responsible tourism to contibute to the preservation of the artistic heritage of Arezzo.
The protection and conservation of the national artistic heritage is -or should be- among the main reasons of interest for those who want to seriously deal with cultural tourism in Italy.
Artours, a tour operator specialized in art, cultural and food and wine tourism, founded in Arezzo in 2015 by the art historian, tourist guide and sommelier Susanna Buricchi, has promoted an important initiative for 2018: attracting the city on American tourism, usually oriented towards the most famous Tuscan destinations such as Florence, San Gimignano, Siena, Pisa, Lucca, Chianti and Montalcino offering the city of Arezzo through alternative visit experiences.
Artours' proposal to the great US tour operator TAUCK was simple and effective: combining a classic tour of Arezzo including a guided tour of the city and Piero della Francesca's frescoes to a unique and unforgettable experience for overseas tourists of the visit to a restoration laboratory where a magnificent painting of the fourteenth century is being considered a masterpiece of Italian art and a symbol of the city of Arezzo, sponsoring its restoration.
For years now, the polyptych by Pietro Lorenzetti, a very important work of fourteenth-century art that we are all from Arezzo and tourists were used to seeing above the high altar of the Pieve di Arezzo, is being restored in a studio of restoration not far from the its natural location
